Starting my new blog.

I decided that it is time for me to start a blog.  What might you find appearing on this blog?  well for those that have visited cjdawson.com you’ll see that I have interests in Astronomy, basic electronics, music, general tech and just about everything reallly.

My intension for this is to start writing up some of my experiences so and invite others to join in, gain from my knowledge and collaborate on many things and maybe, just maybe have some fund whilst doing it.

Initially, I’m going planning on starting a small project of learning how to use Photoshop.  I’m a programmer, well more of a systems designer, trouble shooter implementer and programmer.   For me the challange of this project isn’t to learn how to click buttons, anyone can do that with a little daring.  I can already cut copy and paste images around on photoshop.    So what’s the challange?  I can’t draw at the moment.  I have no idea of the techniques that you can employ to repair photos, create works of art and make stuff that looks in short awesome.

So, I decided to start off this blog with the intension of taking you on the journey with me.  Everything from setting up a workstation for my MacBook Pro, to learning how to use the parts once I have them together.  Hang on, MacBook Pro?  Yes, I have kit.  For the photoshop side of things, I have a Wacom Cintiq, Epson Injet Printer, and my MacBook Pro (with CS4 installed).  I also have a PC.  My PC has Paint Shop Pro, again I know how to do the basics, but nothing more.

What am I hoping to gain from this?  Hopefully, I might just learn how to draw or paint.  I’m very confident that I’ll learn how to repair and manipulate photos, and maybe I’ll learn some of the tricks that the professionals use.  I come from the world of programming, solving technical problems is where my skills lay.  Creating wonderful works of art, well that’s something that will be a huge learning curve for me.

Whilst I’m at it, there is more fun and games too, because I’m new to WordPress.  All in all, I’m going to be learning about WordPress and photoshop at the same time.
